He’s back — sort of. Will Smith joined forces with Columbian band — Bomba Estéreo, for a remix of their track ‘Fiesta.’ This has certainly been a long time coming. Click to listen to his big return track!
Will Smith, 47, made his big return to music on Oct. 2 for the first time in a decade. The actor-singer dusted off his rap skills on the remix of Colombian band Bomba Estéreo’s song “Fiesta” and it’s awesome.
As if Will wasn’t busy enough (Fresh Prince reboot), he decided to jump back into music. We have to admit, it may not be on the same level as “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”, but it’s catchy. On his big return track, “Fiesta”, Will doesn’t start rapping until about the 1:05 mark, and then appears again towards the end of the song. Such a tease.
So, what prompted Will’s big return? Easy — a fun trip to Columbia. While there, he came across Bomba Estéreo’s music, and their rhythm and beat just stuck with Will. The rest is history.
“When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn’t believe it,” band founder Simon Mejia told ABC News. “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of. … It’s just magic.” They’ve reportedly also shot a video — exciting!
Will’s Studio Visit With Kanye
The Grammy-winning rapper and Oscar-nominated actor has a lot on his plate these days, but that doesn’t mean music will stay on the back burner. “I went into the studio with Kanye,” he previously toldMTV. “I’m thinking about it. I’m exploring. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet but I’m exploring. I’m in a creative ceiling.”
Even his son, Jaden, is giving him some tips. “My son tells me I have to write out the things I don’t like. I can’t write and stop, I have to keep going and going and write them out. I’ve never worked like that before but I think I might give that a shot.”
